Leaving entries in a journal on the trail is a lot of fun. Reading other people entries is a special peak into someone else's hike and personal life. But once you leave that journal behind you never really get to meet the other people that come along and read it. Who are these people around you that you never get to meet, and don't you wish you could?
I did when I was hiking. I couldn't figure out if there were a lot of people at the back of the pack, or if I was the back of the pack. The Hikers Co-op is here to show you your fellow hikers all around you. Share your hike with others as your are doing it, but best of all keep them informed on your whereabouts in a way they can see. The Hikers Co-op is a real online community made to connect hikers with other hikers. I felt the best part of my journey on the AT was the family I made along the way. The journey really is the destination. And hopefully using this online community will help you feel apart of that bigger trail family we all love. Hope you like it, and happy hiking!
The Ghost of Natty Boh, Johnny K, and Wolfpaw know that having a really bad ass beard is just one of the great things about hiking the AT. They also know that the friendships you make along the way are some of the best in your life. Friendships grow together over time, and just like a good friendship, so will this community. This has just been a creation of something I wished I had when I was hiking the AT. So the community is made to grow with our shared knowledge. I think all hikers could use a little off trail support in one form or another. This is my way of keeping hiking and its wonderful community close to me. I want to make communication easy and also get to use some cool resources in the process.
